Discipleship (D1)

D1 Discipleship FAQ's

What is D1?
D1 is a one-on-one discipleship study that will equip you in ten relevant topics for living the Christian life.

What Topics Does D1 Include?
  • Salvation/Eternal Security
  • Baptism/Lord's Supper
  • Holy Spirit
  • Word of God
  • Prayer/Will of God
  • The Local Church
  • Money and Possessions
  • Dealing with Sin
  • Evangelism
  • Judgment Seat of Christ

    Who Should Take D1?
D1 is great for everyone, whether you're looking to find out more about the Christian faith or whether you're a mature Christian, D1 is a refreshing way to learn more about "the basics" while cultivating a friendship. We encourage everyone to go through D1 so they will be ready to discipline another.

    What is a D1 Disciple?
A D1 Disciple is someone who registers to go through D1 Discipleship and who meets with a D1 Discipler regularly to engage in discussion over the D1 materials. Jesus said, "Go and make disciples of all the nations..." (Matthew 28:19).

    What is a D1 Discipler?
A D1 Discipler is someone who has fulfilled the requirements and has graduated from our D1 program. D1 Disciplers are approved by Friend Church to disciple others.

    How Does This Program Work?
Once a person registers online, we email them a brief welcome message and then begin a search for his/her D1 Discipler. We ask each Disciple what they might be looking for and a Disciple/Discipler match is made with this criteria in mind, if any is given. (If the Disciple already has a D1 Discipler in mind, we will be sure to connect them.)

Once we have secured a trained Discipler, the Discipler calls the Disciple to set up a time to meet. At the first meeting, the Discipler will give the Disciple their first D1 Book and they will spend some time getting to know each other a bit better.

    How Much Does it Cost?
There is a registration fee of $20.00, which covers the administrative costs of the program.

Do I Have To Stay on a Timeline?
No. You and your Discipler set your own pace, which means that you can discuss, at length, any topic you have questions about along the way.

Do I Have to Become a Discipler After I Graduate?
We strongly encourage all those who graduate from this program to go on to disciple others with D1 materials. After you have gone through the program, you will see just how easy it is to disciple another.

If I Become a Discipler, am I Assigned a Disciple?
You have the choice of finding someone else to disciple or you may volunteer to be put on the list to have one assigned to you.

    How Do I Become a D1 Graduate?
In order to graduate from the D1 program, you must move through all 10 of the D1 books with your Discipler, memorize 2 Timothy 2:3-4 and be able to fill out a chart on God's Supreme Goals. Once you have completed these tasks, you are considered a graduate. Completion certificates are available upon request.
